Raj Aqua World Farm
I’m Rajwinder Singh Rana and I’m from Mandiani, Ludhiana. I started fish farming in 2000, but before that, I was a marketing professional and I worked for a couple of years for some well-recognized brands – Coca-Cola and Johnson & Johnson. As being an MBA Graduate in Advertising and Sales Promotion, I never thought that I would pursue my future in commercial fish farming business. After working some years as a Marketing Professional, I was bored, so I came back to Punjab. I decided of starting my own business in my hometown, so I consulted senior official from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and came up with fish farming. I took training program from PAU and Fish Farmer Development Agency, Ludhiana before commercially starting my business.
In a span of 16 years I have expanded my fish farming area in 70 acres and to enhance my fish farming practices, I visit a new nation every year. Well, after spending this much time in India, I have understood that to start a fish farming business is not that easy for a farmer. Because banks in India don’t support fishery projects and there are other issues also related to the availability of electricity and water. Lack of literacy among the farmers is another factor which has hampered the growth of fishery sector in India.
